View 29 National Film Preservation Board - The National Film Preservation Board (NFPB) of the United States selects films for preservation in the National Film Registry of the Library of Congress. The National Film Preservation Act of 1988 founded it. The National Film Registry is intended to preserve up to 25 "culturally, historically, or artistically significant films" each year; films must be at least 10 years old to be eligible. The National Film Preservation Foundation's federally sponsored award program, made possible by the Library of Congress Sound Recording and Film Preservation Programs Reauthorization Act of 2016, has a registration deadline of Friday, March 25th. The National Film Preservation Foundation (NFPF) provides two types of government financial grants to encourage the preservation of historically and culturally significant American films.
