This park is named after the Brooklyn native who was the first African American Congresswoman as well as the first woman and African American to run for President. Shirley Chisholm State Park is a 407-acre (1.65 km 2) state park in southeastern Brooklyn, New York City, that is currently under construction. It is bounded to the north by the Belt Parkway and Spring Creek Park, and to the south by Jamaica Bay. It is located atop the former Pennsylvania Avenue and Fountain Avenue Landfills.
