This is one of the significant episodes in Mary's life known as the Seven Sorrows of Mary, which were the focus of Catholic devotional prayers. The Piet, which means "pity" or "compassion," is a marble sculpture depicting Mary carrying her crucified son, Jesus. When you watch the work, it becomes clear that Mary has the look of a little girl for a lady who is the mother of a 33-year-old man.
