Fate/stay night [Unlimited Blade Works] is a 2014–2015 adaptation of studio ufotable's graphic novel Fate/stay night. The anime depicts the game's second path, "Unlimited Blade Works," while also adding allusions to Fate/stay night's forerunner, Fate/Zero, which was previously translated by ufotable in 2011-2012. Season one aired in October 2014, followed by season two in April 2015. Kiritsugu Emiya saved Shirou, a young child whose memories and sense of self were destroyed in the fire that followed the destruction of the Corrupted Grail, at the conclusion of the fourth Holy Grail War. Kiritsugu adopts the youngster in search of forgiveness, but dies five years later, leaving the boy with only his old desire of being a Hero of Justice to pursue and an inadequate understanding of magecraft with which to realize it.

Gilgamesh makes a point about how the grail itself does not fulfill desires, but rather serves as a tainted repository for curses and death. Many would argue that this is because to Diarmuid's desires as the Fate/zero lancer. While I'm not quite positive that's accurate, it definitely adds to the impact of the scenario (Fate zero may be due for a rewatch at this point). Kiritsugu Emiya's summoning of the grail ten years ago precipitated the present panorama of disaster into which Shirou was born. Gilgamesh offers a considerably grander scope this time. As a result, our heroes must reorganize. However, how are they to overcome Gilgamesh, a man with whom even Saber had difficulty? That was the thought that crossed my mind upon learning about the âend gameâ here.
