âUntil we address poverty and get farmers out of poverty, this will continue to be a problem,â says Timothy McCoy, vice president of the World Cocoa Foundation, a membership organization supported by the cocoa industry. It is not only a matter of money at the farm gate, McCoy asserts. Cocoa cultivation is often unprofitable due to plot sizes that are too tiny, plants that are too old, and agricultural practices that are too antiquated. His outlook for the future is pragmatist: âIf there was a simple way to resolve this, we would have done so long ago and gone on.â
In India, owing to a lack of identifying papers, it is difficult to determine a child's age. Child laborers often lack school enrollment and birth papers, presenting an easy legal gap to exploit. Frequently, the children of migrant workers engaged as laborers or in domestic services go undetected. Weak law enforcement and weak governance: Weak law enforcement, a lack of proper deterrent, and corruption all contribute to the difficulty of abolishing child labor.
If the amendments' stated purpose was to conserve Indian art and craft by allowing parents with traditional abilities to pass them on to their children, this should be accomplished via school reform and investment. Budget cuts should be recovered; mid-day meals should be reinstated; and homeless children should be given with stable lodging via the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan boarding schools. Educators should be employed to pass on traditional knowledge and abilities to the next generation. Ruchira Gupta is an anti-trafficking campaigner and the creator of Apne Aap Women Worldwide. Migrant and refugee children â many of whom have been displaced by violence, tragedy, or poverty â often face the danger of forced labor and even trafficking, particularly if they migrate alone or through illegal routes with their families.
Children who are trafficked are often subjected to assault, abuse, and other abuses of their human rights. Additionally, individuals may be compelled to violate the law. For females, sexual exploitation is a significant risk, while boys may be exploited by military forces or organizations.
