Perhaps the most embarrassing moment on Ellen's program occurred early on, when an animal specialist brought in a massive python and requested Ellen to handle it. Almost immediately after she touched the snake, it curled its tail around her pelvis in precisely the correct manner to give the impression that she was carrying, um, a cargo. DeGeneres addressed the matter during her September show's opening monologue and apologized to âaffected staffers.â

Ellen Degeneres Anne Heche
Anne Heche claims that her 1997 connection with Ellen DeGeneres resulted in her being taken from her "Volcano" film premiere by security and later being sacked from a big motion picture agreement. Heche revealed her connection with DeGeneres in a video posted before to her appearance on the ABC reality program "Dancing With the Stars" Monday night.
"For ten years, I didn't do a studio film," she told the site on Monday. "I was sacked from a $10 million film contract and never appeared in a studio film." She mentioned how she was already in discussions to star in the romance comedy "Six Days, Seven Nights" with Harrison Ford – but the studio was reluctant to hire her after her appearance on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show." She stated she was even informed she was no longer eligible.
She included a shot of her and Ellen wearing matched blue dresses to the 1998 Golden Globes in one segment of the program. Anne wore a blue velvet gown with a transparent long-sleeved duster embellished with flower embroidery at the time. What about the host of a daytime talk show? She was dressed impeccably in a blue suit. "Why do I appear to be a hippie? It's because Ellen forbade me from dressing sexily "Anne confessed, giving a thumbs down to her look. "Bye. No!"
6. A Divorced Couple
DeGeneres' parents separated in 1978, splintering their tiny family. While Ellen's brother Vance elected to remain with his father, Ellen chose to live in Atlanta, Georgia, with her mother and her mother's new husband, Roy Gruessendorf. It was already a turbulent moment in her life, but it was about to get exponentially worse.
Ellen Degeneres Anne Heche Story
âI met Ellen DeGeneres in 1997, at Vanity Fair's pre-Oscar party, and it was the night that forever changed my life," the actress recalls in an exclusive video with People. âAntes del estreno de mi pelicula Volcano, los dije que Ellen sera me acompaante, y me dijeron que si llevaba an Ellen, perdera mi contrato with Fox,â reminisce la actriz sobre la popular cinta que protagoniza3 junto a Tommy Lee Jones in 1997, todo un xito de taquilla
The duo went public with their relationship soon after DeGeneres openly came out as gay, prompting both to face professional blowback.
Heche has now spoken up about DeGeneres's âmeanâ behavior, as well as charges of sexual misconduct, racism, and bullying on the set of DeGeneres's US talk show. DeGeneres has not been accused of any workplace misconduct.
During this interview, the actress discusses the consequences of deciding to reveal her love for the comedian to the world. Despite this, Heche assures that she is proud of the change that this represents in the world. Anne Heche narrates the press conference for the premiere of her own film. Heche is now appearing in â13 Minutes,â a tornado drama. She has already said that she had no regrets about her time with DeGeneres. âI was a member of a movement that aided in the advancement of equality. I could not have done it had I not fallen in love with Ellen,â she told Entertainment Tonight in 2020.

Donald, Heche's father and a Baptist choir director, died of AIDS when Heche was 13 years old. She discovered he was homosexual just before he died. Heche also lost her brother Nate a few months later when his automobile collided with a tree. Heche landed a part as villainous twins in the daytime series Another World while still in her teens. She earned a Daytime Emmy and appeared in critically acclaimed films such as Donnie Brasco. She dated actor Steve Martin, who was 30 years her older, and Lindsay Buckingham of Fleetwood Mac, who composed a song about her.
Heche continued by stating that she still views her previous connection with DeGeneres as a âbeautiful partâ of her life.
âI was a catalyst for social change, and I could not have done it without falling in love with her,â she said. âI am glad to have been a part of a movement that advanced equality, but there is still much work to be done.â
Heche arrived to the door of a stranger's house in Cantua Creek, Calif., the day following the announcement and had an emotional breakdown, asking a shower and calling herself God. Heche was hospitalized when the homeowner contacted the cops. She later explained the experience by blaming it on her father's maltreatment, which caused her to acquire several personalities. (In her 2001 biography Call Me Crazy, she disclosed that she was sexually molested by her father until she was 12 years old.) "I believe that everything I've done in my life has been in an attempt to win my parents' affection," she told Barbara Walters in 2001. "My father was a huge fan of Hollywood stars. I determined that I needed to become celebrity in order to win his affection. My mother adored Jesus, and as a result, I wanted to become Jesus Christ. I wanted to rescue the world in order to win her affection."
She said, âI was in a relationship with Ellen DeGeneres for three and a half years, and the stigma around that relationship was so severe that I was sacked from a multimillion-dollar film contract and did not work in a major film for ten years.
