When sixteen-year-old Bloom (Abigail Cowen) realizes she has fire abilities, she is sent to Alfea, a magical boarding school in the Otherworld of Solaria, to study with other fairies. There she meets Aisha (Precious Mustapha), Terra (Eliot Salt), Musa (Elisha Applebaum), and Stella (Hannah van der Westhuysen), a light fairy from a lineage of magical nobility. She also meets experts such as Sky (Danny Griffin), who is preparing with fighter Saul Silva (Robert James-Collier) to serve as the first line of defense against their realm's most dangerous adversaries. While Bloom gains a better understanding of her abilities and her origins, the threats hiding around the school continue to rise.

Because the Burned Ones are said to be hard to kill, Bloom of course succeeds on her first attempt. They are as effective as the script claims and utterly boring. She is an excellent example of a character with ambiguous morals, since she commits atrocities that might be justified. Regrettably, she is the only show-created character who is intriguing in this sense €” all of the narrative energy is spent on new Specialists and instructors, and the show's core suffers as a result. Bloom wanders along on her own search for answers, while none of the other characters are concerned with the main narrative or the danger posed by the Burned Ones and those who sent them to Alfea.
