Human Resource Professionals Day: A Brief History
"Happy International Human Resources Day! I feel that this is HR's opportunity to guide organizations into the future. I wish we could use technology and people analytics to accelerate our progress toward thinking leadership. We have an incredible chance and obligation to give counsel about the necessary skills and competencies for success. In an era where innovation is king, embracing all types of diversity is critical, and the human resources department may play a critical role in that journey.
Current concerns such as how do we begin with the processes, systems, tools, skills, knowledge, behaviors, or structure(s) necessary to reach our company goals and/or what can we do concurrently are areas where we may flourish as human resource experts. Our human resources duty is and has always been to integrate these changes in order to prevent them from reverting to business as usual. â
âThis is a critical moment for human resource professionals to restructure organizations and revitalize how, where, and when work is performed, as governments worldwide seek to reopen their economies and workplaces. Human resources now play a critical role in establishing a new future in which work is more inclusive, equitable, accessible, and based on trust,â stated EAPM president Even Bolstad. âAt a moment of global difficulty, the profession is standing up to drive change that will enhance working lives, rather than reverting to more conventional modes of thought and practice. We are constructing an exciting future that is adaptable and participatory, one that benefits employees, organizations, and society as a whole,â Bolstad said.
