A slow cooker, alternatively referred to as a crock-pot (after a trademark owned by Sunbeam Products but occasionally used generically in the English-speaking world), is a countertop electrical cooking appliance used to cook food at a lower temperature than other cooking methods such as baking, boiling, or frying. [1] This enables unsupervised cooking of foods that would normally be cooked for many hours: pot roast, soups, stews, and other dishes (including beverages, desserts and dips).
