During the game against the Boston Celtics, Kevin Durant reached a huge career milestone. He became the NBA's 23rd player to reach 25,000 career points. While he applauded the accomplishment, he admitted that he should have done it sooner. Durant has been injured often during his career, and there is little question that he would have reached the 25K milestone sooner had he not been out for so long.
Durant's old GSW teammate orchestrated the prank, which included the whole US Olympic team singing KD's birthday song. Kevin's birthday, on the other hand, is not until late September. The two-time Olympic gold medallist maintained a straight look as he regarded everyone. Green sounded as though he was having a wonderful time pranking Durant.

That is the kind of detail that might be ignored when assessing Durant's new squad. As expected, he is shooting fewer shots (16.8, down 2.2 from his career average) and scoring fewer goals (26.2 points, down 1.2 from his career average). However, this should not be used to evaluate his eligibility for the MVP and other individual honors. He's been great as a passer and rebounder, and he's playing his best defense of his career, helping the Warriors reclaim a spot in the top seven in defensive efficiency.
Durant finished with 14 points (6-13 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 1-1 FT) in 40 minutes against the Hornets on Tuesday.
Durant struggled on Tuesday, needing 13 shots to get 14 points. The star striker seemed to be off rhythm, but he should have little difficulty regaining his groove sooner rather than later. His next opportunity will come Thursday against James Harden and the 76ers. It's worth remembering that this was Durant's first game in which he failed to hit the 15-point mark, except the Jan. 15 game against the Pelicans, when he sustained the knee injury that kept him out for more than a month.
