The good news is that Chicago Fire supporters will not have to wait long for Kidd's comeback. Given that the show's forthcoming ninth episode will be the last one of the year before the season returns in January, and that creator Derek Haas has said Miranda Rae Mayo will return before the end of the year, we know Kidd will appear in the autumn finale.

This has undoubtedly been the case with the pairing of Stella Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo) and Kelly Severide (Taylor Kinney), affectionately called "Stellaride" by fans. While it took a while for this partnership to completely develop due to the former's participation in an unhappy marriage during her early stay on the program â€“ not to mention the latter's dalliances with other characters â€“ this pairing has taken off and captured the minds of One Chicago fans. It has withstood mutual stabbings, significant injuries, emotional suffering, and several near-breakups. Stellaride is still going strong in Season 9 of "Chicago Fire," as Kidd prepares to take the next important step in her profession by becoming a lieutenant. Mayo reflected on Stellaride and what it means to be a member of a fan-favorite ship in an exclusive conversation with Looper.

â[Creator] Derek [Haas] is like, âPlease just be healthy and come up to set healthy,â she joked. âI'm not sure. I do know that since we avoided cliffhangers â which worked out well â we are not required to continue up where we left off. We may resume our conversation five months later or whenever you choose. âAlthough she has âno answersâ on how the pandemic would influence their daily lives, she is certain that changes are imminent. âEven with our equipment, our masks that we are required to wear, I am quite curious,â she remarked.

With Casey's departure and the aftermath at Firehouse 51, Chicago Fire offered a lot of upheaval in the first half of Season 10, which was worsened by Stella Kidd's continued absence. Her brief Girls on Fire journey became longer and longer as Severide received less and fewer reports from her, despite the available lieutenant position on Truck 81. Stella reappeared at the conclusion of the midseason episode, setting up a Stellaride cliffhanger, but there are many unanswered issues about what happens next. Fortunately, Miranda Rae Mayo talked with CinemaBlend on what to expect now that Stella has reunited with Severide and is faced with a decision. When I chatted with Miranda Rae Mayo ahead of Chicago Fire's January return, she assured me that Stella did not just appear at the conclusion of the midseason finale and then vanish again. When asked whether she will be returning for the remainder of Season 10, she said, âHell yeah!â

The remark – and the crew's sad expressions – alludes to Boden's departure from the firehouse. Boden is performed by British actor Eamonn Walker. As fans will recall, Boden was offered the position of Deputy District Chief in the season nine finale, giving him a great chance to improve his career.

For the majority of the squad, the episode revolved on a strategy devised by crooks to smash automobiles and profit from the accidents. Stella, on the other hand, was preoccupied with proving herself at a leadership conference. The long-serving fireman utilized her expertise and abilities to demonstrate that she had the necessary qualifications to be an officerâand word of her outstanding performance found its way back to Boden. The chief was overjoyed to learn of Stella's newest accomplishment, and it became evident that she is in a strong position to become the next promoted fireman.

MRM: Quite a bit! There are a few enjoyable surprises in store for Brettonio, as well as plenty of action for the firemen. We do have a heartbreaking incident in which one of the firemen is shot and is unsure whether they will survive. Additionally, we get to meet Severide's mother!

"It all points to Severide and Kidd needing a vacation," showrunner Matt Olmstead told The Hollywood Reporter, which broke the news of Mayo's elevation first. "However, we aim to persuade the viewer, as we are, that they were really created for one other." Mayo's persona was presented for the first time in February.

To me, it was similar to when you get an email and immediately think "Oh, I'll answer later" and then never do, crossing the line into being impolite.

Mayo: And then you have all this additional tension because you're thinking, shite, I didn't have the answers and I was waiting. And now since I'm still without answers, but I'm being impolite, what should I do? She just became paralyzed.

Hopefully, when Stella returns, we'll see some type of major plot involving her, including her current position in the firehouse without Casey. If she were in the Windy City, one would assume she would be very engaged in everything going on; but, we now have a new, if temporary, lieutenant in Pelham. We'll have to wait and see how long he lasts. As for why Mayo was missing for such an extended period of time in the first place, all we can say is that it has become more typical for series regulars to miss a few episodes of their programs. Consider Brian Tee's recent lengthy departure from Chicago Medicine. Megan Boone is another excellent example, since she was absent from a large portion of The Blacklist last season. These things seem to happen at the moment, and the good news for Mayo is that she appears to be devoted to both Chicago Fire and her role. Patience is a virtue in this case; fingers crossed for some fantastic content in the near future!

"What's good is that now that they've established this foundation, they're both free to branch out into other aspects of their lives, such as professions, and take on new challenges," she said. "Both of them have a support structure that keeps them grounded and allows them to go out and attempt new things. I believe they are content with what is occurring at the moment, but I would be eager to learn how Kidd and Severide marry. Is there a grandiose ceremony? I don't see any of them planning anything." Although she ruled out the pair marrying at the firehouse, as Casey (Jesse Spencer) and Dawson (Monica Raymund) did in Season 5, the actress said she imagined an impromptu ceremony in a different setting, such as the cabin, with Ritter (Daniel Kyri), Foster (Annie Ilonzeh), and Casey as witnesses and Brett (Kara Killmer) serving as Stella's maid of honor. Naturally, Boden (Eamonn Walker) would have to be present as well.
