This article includes mild spoilers for Disney Pixar's upcoming animated feature Onward. It's been a long time coming, but a Disney heroine now has a girlfriend who isn't Elsa. Months after The Rise of Skywalker presented the galaxy's first same-sex kiss, the new animated picture Onward presents the Disney-Pixar universe's first self-identified lesbian character. Officer Specter is the name of the Cyclops policeman who is voiced by openly homosexual playwright and actor Lena Waithe. While the presence of Specter in Onward is a significant first for Disney, the film itself treats him somewhat casually, which the producers claim is intentional. âIt just kind of happened,â says Onward producer Kori Rae. âWhen we scripted the sequence, it seemed right, and it opens up the universe a little bit, which is exactly what we wanted,â adds director Dan Scanlon. âIt's a contemporary fantasy realm, and we want to depict the contemporary reality.â

Sweet Cicely Daniher, a San Francisco tattoo artist, filed a copyright case against Disney, Pixar, and Onward producer Kori Rae in January 2020. Pixar leased Daniher's "Vanicorn," a van adorned with a unicorn mural, in September 2018 for usage at the 2019 Los Angeles Auto Show. She became aware of the production of Onward in May 2019 and, after seeing images of the van used by Ian and Barley Lightfoot in the film, came to believe that Pixar had violated her rental agreement with the company, as well as the Digital Millennium Copyright Act, the Visual Artists Rights Act, and the California Artists Protection Act. She sued to prevent the film's release and any infringing marketing or products. [77]
This film will make you laugh as well as cry. It's a terrific film since it's entertaining, action-packed, and emotional. Ian and Barley, two elf brothers, lost their father while they were too little to remember him. However, on Ian's sixteenth birthday, they get a remarkable present - something that may temporarily resurrect their father. However, as planned, they sabotage the spell, leaving their father with just legs.
