There must be a serious flaw in the educational system. Furthermore, there is nothing inherently wrong with constructing a fictitious plot based on myths and legends. However, when you claim Beijing is located in Alaska and the Chinese character in the film speaks French, there is no way you can sell this cringeworthy, embarrassing film to an audience who, happily, has access to the internet and can check up the facts. Although the year 1442 is mentioned, the actual Vlad the Impaler was just 11 years old at the time. And what about the geography? The buildings' locations do not correspond. The clothing and Ottoman swords are entirely incorrect. And Mehmed II, the future Constatinople conqueror, was also ten years old at the time, although he apparently grew up miraculously. When Ottoman characters speak Turkish, they sound like my newly acquired French pupils. How cringeworthy is that? Couldn't they at the very least get the actors professional dialect tutors to help them seem more credible while speaking these two sentences?
In the action-adventure Dracula Untold, see the genesis tale of one of legend's most intriguing characters. The year is 1462, and Transylvania has had a protracted period of peace under the kind and equitable reign of war-weary Vlad III, Wallachia's ruler (Luke Evans, Fast & Furious 6, The Hobbit series). However, when Sultan Mehmed II (Dominic Cooper, Captain America: The First Avenger) demands that 1,000 of Wallachia's boys — including Vlad's own son — join his army as child soldiers, Vlad is forced to negotiate a Faustian pact in order to preserve his family and people. He acquires the strength of a hundred men, the acceleration of a falling star, and the ability to smash his adversaries. In exchange, he is cursed with an insatiable craving for human blood, which threatens to drag him into a life of evil and annihilate all he loves dear.
Dracula Untold is a 2014 fantasy/action film based on Bram Stoker's character. It is a "reboot" aimed to reintroduce the Universal Monsters "cinematic world." It seems to have little resemblance to the book itself. Rather than that, it seems to be inspired by Dan Curtis' and Francis Ford Coppola's Dracula, portraying him as sympathetic and associating him with historical character Vlad III. The distinction is that this film is entirely focused on his time as a military commander. Despite the fact that numerous other comparable, well-known, high-profile projects exist, the filmmakers claim to be revealing the character's "untold" past.
